Training on NALS and PALS Conducted

On 29th June 2024, Nazareth Hospital hosted a comprehensive training program on Basic Neonatal Resuscitation and Paediatric Basic Life Support. The program, which ran from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, was held in the hospital's auditorium and was meticulously organized by Fr. Vipin D'Souza, the hospital director. The resource persons for the event were Dr. Rakesh, Dr. Sanober, and Dr. Sohini, all experts in their respective fields. The day began with a warm welcome speech delivered by Fr. Vipin D'Souza, who set the tone for the day's activities. Following the welcome address, Dr. Sohini Gosh introduced the trainers, highlighting their qualifications and expertise, and setting the stage for an engaging and informative session. The participants were divided into two batches for more effective hands-on training. The first batch commenced their session at 8:00 AM with Dr. Rakesh, who covered the systematic approach to neonatal resuscitation. His session was detailed and provided a solid foundation for the day's learning objectives. At 8:30 AM, Dr. Sanober took over and delved into respiratory emergencies, emphasizing the importance of timely and accurate intervention. By 9:00 AM, Dr. Rakesh was back to explain the concept of shock, detailing the physiological changes and the appropriate responses required in such situations. This was followed by Dr. Sanober’s explanation of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) at 9:30 AM, which included critical guidelines and practical tips for resuscitating the new-born. A short tea break was scheduled at 10.15 AM, allowing the participants a brief respite before diving into the hands-on demonstration session. After the 15-minute break, the practical sessions began at 10:30 AM. Participants had the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they had gained, practicing various techniques under the guidance of the trainers. This interactive segment was highly beneficial, as it reinforced learning through practice. The first batch concluded their session at 12:30 PM, just in time for a one-hour lunch break. The second batch of participants began their training at 1:30 PM. The afternoon session followed the same structure as the morning, ensuring that all participants received the same high level of instruction and practical experience. The second batch's session concluded at 5:15 PM. The day's program was formally concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr. Vipin. He expressed gratitude to the trainers for their time and expertise and acknowledged the efforts of all attendees in making the day a success. Fr. Vipin then presented mementos to the trainers as a token of appreciation. The event concluded at 5:30 PM with the national anthem, marking the end of a productive and enlightening day. The training program was well-attended by a diverse group, including the hospital director, administrator, nursing superintendent, doctors, staff nurses, tutors, quality department staff, departmental in-charges, and HR department personnel. This broad participation underscored the hospital's commitment to ensuring all relevant staff is well-trained in critical neonatal and paediatric life support techniques.
